Crofton U'14s V Athersley

                    Crofton 4 Athersley 0

With no game since November Crofton resorted to a mid season friendly against division 3 promotion chasers Athersley rec.
Crofton made a bright start but all the new boots the man in the red suit had delivered took some bedding in and shots flew everywhere.
Eventually Dan Hall gave the home side a deserved lead but Athersley didn't let their heads drop and gave Crofton a decent game.
In the last 10 minutes Marcus Howells scored twice and then Ben Fowler from a free kick made it 4.
Impressive for the home side were Howells, Sam Mackay, Harry Pell and player of the match Matty Tate.

u12's vs durkar

despite the 2-0 defeat we felt that the team played very well all over the park. Durkar enjoyed the lions share of the play but had to rely on free-kicks for their goals as we defended very well. Jolyon and Jon had good games at right and left back and were always looking to play football. Josh was unlucky with both goals whilst Harry and Beth again shone at centre half. Jack had a fine game in a busy midfied, supporting Kez, who also played well. Their defence was very strong and restricted Jordon and Dillon's progress although they linked up promisingly at times. out on the wings Tim and Cracker had limited opportunities to shine and spent a lot of time tracking back to help their defence. It we play like this in the second half of the season we'll be ok. The periods of good play and hard work seem to be happening more often and for longer spells. A defeat but a positive performance. Well done to all involved. Training Thurs 5.45pm Featherstone Next match 1st team St Joes (H) Sun 2nd team Cas Town (H) Sun

Crofton U13's V Normanton

Crofton 0 Normanton 3

Crofton played with 10 men today against Normanton and played the best football of the season so far. Crofton dominated for large periods of the game but could not find that extra yard in front of goal. Just before have time a Normanton cross somehow found its way into the goal. Crofton continued the second half in fantastic form but with tired legs they allowed Normanton to score 2 goals in the last 5 minutes securing a 3 nil win for the visitors.

You wore your hearts on your sleeves today boys and played how I know you can so lets kick start our season on the back of this performance and go to Durkar next week hungry for the win.

Crofton U'14s

Normanton 2 Crofton 4

Crofton kicked off against Normanton with only 10 players but were back up to 11 when Normanton put away their chances and grabbed a 2 goal lead.
Fortunately Marcus Howells didn't give his side time to dwell on it and pulled one back within minutes and Nathan Archer finished well to level before the break.
Normanton passed the ball better at times and won alot of 50/50 balls but Crofton stepped it up second half and with the assistance of Louis Crossland, Jake Drury put Crofton ahead before Howells grabbed his second.
in a game that was played in windy conditions on a wet pitch that had enough grass on it to support a herd of goats both sides deserved credit for entertaining us untill the end.
Croftons player of the match was shared between keeper Harry Pell who pulled off two great saves and Ben Fowler who was commanding in defence.

CROFTON 15'S V MAPPLEWELL 15'S

CROFTON 15'S 11 MAPPLEWELL 15'S 2

A good start to the new year with a good win over mapplewell and we played some great football. all the lads came back from crimbo and give there all wozzer set the lads on there way with danny making some great passes from midfield calum was great too and he deserved his goal micky scored with he's head to make it 3( must of closed he's eyes lol) wozzer got he's second with a good ball from calum. nick worked really hard on the right and put some good crosses in for the team. wozzer set up ozzy to get on the score sheet good link up play lads wozzer ended up with 5 and ozzy got 2 macca scored 2 great goals to finish mapplewell off.wrighty played 1 of he's best games zak made some good runs down the left chap did well at side of joe and danny was as strong as ever in midfield with calum fletch did well in goal too crofton could have had more but there keeper had a good game to say he let 11 in. but well done today lads great game to say its the first in 3 weeks and keep up the hard work. i will say this now you must start to train more cos there is lads not turning up to train everyweek and still want to play if you miss training and turn up to play you still pay your subs.

Under 14's V Royston

Crofton 3 Royston 2

Unfortunately what was a thoroughly entertaining game on the field was spoiled by some Crofton parents failure to recognise the FA's "respect" campaign which as a club we are trying to promote.
On the field Crofton started well but were caught on the break and although Harry Pell saved the initial shot Royston scored from the re-bound to take the lead.
Crofton deserved better though and levelled through m.o.m Marcus Howells and lead 3.1 at the break with goals from Nathan Archer and Josh Marsh.
Some great passing football second half but Crofton couldn't find the net and Royston reduced the deficit from a well taken free kick but Crofton deservedly held out.
Great games from the back 4 of Crossland, Fowler, Nattrass and Mackay, with Archer and Howells impressive going forward.

U12's vs upton

Crofton 1 Upton 2

The early loss of Jordon through injury and lack of toughness in midfield cost us dear again today. The football we played for 20 minutes was excellent. Tim was through no less than 3 times thanks to precise through balls for Kez and Robbie, but failed to find the net and of course Upton's first real chance brought them a well taken goal. We found ourselves under the cosh in the second half but, Bish Beth and Harry were outstanding, with Jolyon and Jack also playing their part at full backs. But when your lucks out its out and a blatant handball was missed which led to Upton's second. To our credit we battled on and Jon squeezed into their box and cheekily chipped their keeper for 2-1. That was it really till the final minute when Beth's goal bound header was cleared off the line. A last ditch equaliser two weeks on the trot was too much to ask. Man of Match was Jack for a fine display at left back, great games also for Josh, Harry and Beth. If the midfield had a bit of their aggression things would be a lot different!!

CROFTON 15'S V ALTOFTS 15'S

ALTOFTS 0 CROFTON 5

A WELL HARD FORT WIN TODAY.

The game was played in bad conditions again this week and we had to fight against a strong side heathy under the feet windy at times so i understand its not always pretty football boys. we dug deep and prob won the game by half time against 12 men ozzy got the lads on there way danny made it 2 nil with a tap in (well followed up dan) and with danny making the goal wozzer made it 3 at half time. altofts come out fighting and shooting from all over the field which played into our hands. we let the score go to our heads too much and we started playing the wrong balls or shooting instead of playing the easy ball lets get this right before it sets in lads and keep working for 80mins instead of thinking we'd won the game before it had finished. anyway back to the score ozzy made it 4 nil with a great shot( miss kick lol) then danny made it 5 nil with a good solo goal. fletcher made some excellent saves chappy, wrighty, joe, zak, and screeton made a good strong defence restricting altofts shots hinitt played well in defence and up front also mikey and callum played defence and midfield making some good tackles danny, nick, macca played some good football in midfield also wozzer and ozzy played well up front and tracked back at times to help in midfield.

well done lads lets just remember lets keep passing and keep up the team spirit.
